Megeve is situated about 10 km off the main road from Geneva to Chamonix and is one of the most chic villages that one could hope to come across. Megeve is part of the Evasion Mont Blanc ski area. As well as the full range of facilities associated with a village that is bustling with visitors all year, there are many other facilities e.g. a large sports complex, outdoor pool, horse drawn taxis, many quality restaurants and some excellent designer shops in an atmospheric pedestrian area. There are three main ski areas; Mont D'arbois, Rochebrune and Le Jaillet, which offer 445 km of pistes and are served by 111 lifts. With the resort being relatively low, much of the skiing at Megeve is on beautiful tree-lined slopes with picturesque views of the surrounding mountains. Not to be missed is the view of Mont Blanc from the excellent value restaurant at the top of the Bachais chairlift, in Le Jaillet area. It is a great advantage to have a car to reach the ski access points as the buses can be very busy during peak periods but be aware that snow chains are required in winter. The village of Megeve retains a very French feel unlike some of the resorts.
