Le Mas de Castillone walking to the heart of the village, this house is of historical significance for the village, original building dating back to the XVII century and despite been in the village it is in a very quite area with total piracy. Used to be the local school and then the Village Hall. This Mas offers a modern take of Provencal living. It sprawls over 850 sq. total with a one hectare garden with heated pool, Pool house, Fitness room & a tennis court

 

With a holiday feel, this family house with exposed stones, has many advantages, the choice of authentic materials and respect for the original building gives this Mas a particular authenticity... Former post office, the renovation of this atypical place offers large rooms exposed at different levels, giving the place a special intimacy.  Here one can imagine an art of living where simple pleasure, combined with comfort, dominates.

The Mas consist of 7 air-conditioned double King size bedrooms & bathrooms accommodating up to14 guests. Large open plan living room , dinning room and a family room with TV/home cinema. Very large open plan kitchen and dining room with original fireplace, Lacanche cooker range and fully equipped kitchen crockery all made by local artisan.. Additional chef’s kitchen and butler’s pantry fully equipped and a full laundry room.

The outdoor with one hectare of garden with one of the oldest sycamore tree in the south of France, several terraces facing south will offer you moments of calm and conviviality, in the shade of the pergola to sip an aperitif or to share a lively dinner.

Magnificently located on foot in the small village of Paradou and the shops, and also to the famous “Bristo de Paradou”  where they serve Provençal specialties in a warm setting with stone and exposed beams and a tree-lined terrace. (one must book as it is extremely popular) otherwise 2.5 kilometres you are in the centre of the charming village of Maussane-les-Alpilles which is a typical colourful bustling Provencal Village with lots of ambiance has all the amenities, boulangeries, quaint pavement cafes and excellent restaurants, shops and a weekly market on Thursday providing an opportunity to discover local products.

 

Just a little further Saint Remy de Provence is a lively charming classical little town capital of the Alpilles, it has all the amenities, boulangeries, little boutiques, quaint pavement cafes and excellent restaurants, its winding cobbled lanes you will discover the small squares, historic buildings, churches and museums and on Wednesday the colourful weekly market will offer the opportunity to discover local products and handicrafts which is a must to see. The birthplace of the 16th Century astrologer Nostradamus and just outside the town is the impressive Greco-Roman archaeological site of Glanum.  Also nearby is the beautiful retreat where Van Gough painted. Villages such as Les Baux de Provence and Fontvielle and the remote and mysterious wetlands of the Camargue (one of Europe’s most important nature reserves, known especially for its pink flamingos, fighting bulls and wild horses) and all around the scent of rosemary, thyme and lavender.

A short 25 minutes drive north is the beautiful walled city of Avignon - a UNESCO World Heritage Site – the medieval city of Popes, with the biggest gothic palace in the world.

Pont de Guard – also a World Heritage Site – the incredible triple height aqueduct bridge built by the Romans, which delivered pure water to the Roman baths and fountains at Nîmes to the west, with its impressive Roman arena.

To the south, the city of Arles with its roman arena (holdings 20,000 spectators) and the nearest beach at St. Maries de la Mer (¾ hour’s drive).

There is also excellent riding, cycling and walking in the Alpilles hills close to St Remy and Les Baux de Provence. Bicycles can be hired in several local villages and there are a number of nearby livery stables.
